On behalf of the Technical Program Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract to the 55th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC 55). For more than six decades, PVSC has brought together researchers, engineers, industry leaders, and students from around the world to share ideas, showcase breakthroughs, and advance the science and technology of photovoltaics. Whether you are a long-time member of the PV community or attending for the first time, PVSC provides a welcoming and engaging forum to connect with colleagues, exchange insights, and help shape the future of solar energy.

This year, we are excited to introduce a refreshed conference structure built around three Tracks that encompass a range of topics. While the format is new, the breadth and scope of PVSC 55 remains unchanged. With these updates, our goal is to better reflect the tremendous growth and diversity in photovoltaics while creating new opportunities for interaction across disciplines. Existing areas of PVSC have been retained, updated and integrated into a structure that is designed to capture both long-standing research themes and emerging directions that are increasingly shaping our community.

To support this transition, we have introduced several enhancements to the submission and review process. Dedicated Track Committees will work closely across topics to ensure that every abstract is reviewed by the most appropriate experts and considered for the sessions where it will have the greatest impact. During submission, authors will be asked to identify up to three topics, ranked by relevance, and provide keywords to assist with review and program development.

As photovoltaics continues to intersect with rapidly growing areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, data science, and sustainability, we anticipate an increasing number of cross-cutting topics. If you are unsure where your work fits, please do not hesitate to contact the organizing committee at [email protected]. We will be happy to help!

In addition to our traditional plenary and keynote presentations, PVSC 55 will feature invited talks across all tracks, special sessions highlighting emerging opportunities and challenges, and exciting updates to the industry forum. Watch our website and social media channels for more details!

Abstracts must be submitted through the PVSC 55 website. Please use the current MS Word template, or follow its formatting exactly, when preparing your submission. Technical evaluation abstracts will undergo peer review and be considered for either oral or poster presentation.

Abstract Submission Deadline: January 15, 2027, at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8)
Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions in late March 2027 and will then be asked to confirm their participation in the conference.

PVSC 55 promises to be a truly exciting event with new opportunities for collaboration and community. We hope you will join us in Pasadena next June and contribute to what we expect will be one of the most dynamic and engaging PVSC meetings yet!

I look forward to welcoming you to the 55th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference.

Warm regards, Ian R. Sellers Technical Program Chair, 55th IEEE PVSC
