Welcome to the 55th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC 55), and warm greetings from beautiful Pasadena, California. It is a honor to host you from June 20–24, 2027, as we celebrate more than six decades of scientific discovery, collaboration, and innovation in photovoltaics.

Since its inception in 1961, the PVSC has served as the premier gathering place for our global community, where researchers, students, and industry leaders come together to advance the science and technology that will define our energy future.

This year marks our return to California for the first time in nearly two decades, and Pasadena offers an ideal environment for both technical exchange and inspiration. Whether you are strolling through the galleries of the Norton Simon Museum, exploring the gardens at The Huntington, or taking in the scenery of the Arroyo Seco, I hope you find moments to recharge between sessions. With world-renowned institutions, Caltech, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Mount Wilson Observatory, and Griffith Observatory, just minutes away, the legacy of scientific discovery in this region is unmistakable.

PVSC 55 builds on the strong foundation of recent conferences while continuing to evolve alongside our rapidly advancing field. We offer a broad, world‑class technical program designed to reflect the expanding landscape of photovoltaics, from fundamental materials research and devices to manufacturing, systems integration, sustainability, and policy.

This year we have refined the conference schedule to better support your experience: PVSC 55 will conclude on Thursday, offering smoother travel planning and a more balanced week of technical engagement. As always, you can expect exceptional plenary speakers, dynamic oral and poster sessions, an expanded exhibition space, and rich opportunities, both in person and online, to connect, collaborate, and contribute.

Whether this is your first PVSC or your fifteenth, thank you for being part of this community. The energy, creativity, and dedication you bring make the conference what it is. I hope your time in Pasadena leaves you inspired, energized, and excited for the future of photovoltaics.

I look forward to spending the week with you at PVSC 55.
