GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANT

Graduate Student Assistants for PVSC

The Graduate Student Assistants (GSAs) play a very important role in PVSC, with responsibilities ranging from assisting with conference publications (proceedings), providing support to the oral presentation session chairs, managing the poster sessions, and providing general assistance to conference attendees.

Being a GSA can be a very rewarding experience as you will have the opportunity to interact with many of the conference attendees and organizers, as well as get to know all the other students in the program. GSA coordinators will try to take your particular interests into account when developing the overall work schedule. As a GSA, you will be expected to work between 15 and 20 hours over the course of the week and be available for 5 of the 6 conference days. In exchange, you will receive a number of valuable benefits, described below.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Complimentary student conference registration
  • Free ticket for the Thursday evening social event

Given the large number of applications received every year, and to encourage students to present their work, priority will be given to students who have been chosen as a Best Student Paper Award finalist.

Additional considerations include, but are not necessarily limited to, whether you are presenting a paper (oral or poster), the length of your attendance (partial vs. full conference), your graduate program degree goal and year, and prior experience as a GSA. We encourage all graduate students to apply, as we strive to support a diverse group with national and international representation.
