Dr. Adele Tamboli from NREL will receive The 2018 Young Professional Award “for her work developing hybrid III-V/Si solar cells and leading research into novel photovoltaic materials”.
Dr. Tamboli is a scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. She led an international collaboration that developed hybrid GaInP/GaAs/Si solar cells, demonstrating a combined 35.9% efficiency and a potential pathway to >30% silicon-based tandems. She currently leads projects on III-V/Si direct epitaxial growth and on the development of II-IV-V2 materials for PV. Adele received her Ph.D. in Materials from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2009.
Dr. Tamboli will deliver an invited oral presentation on Wednesday June 13 at 2:00 PM in the Area 1: Novel Material Systems Session (Kona 5 Ballroom).
