Abstract

The corrosion susceptibility of TOPCon solar cells has been a major concern in the PV industry, which has led to use of Dual Glass modules having their own reliability concerns. However, many “Low WVTR” transparent backsheets have come in the market with the promise of light-weight & humidity-resistant modules. This paper provides experimental results of various accelerated tests on TOPCon single-cell coupons and modules, to verify the reliability of modules made using low WVTR backsheet. The electrical degradation was found to be within acceptable limit, but delamination was observed after Damp Heat test which indicates the need to improve the adhesion strength of the backsheet to the encapsulant.
