Abstract
Measurement uncertainties in STC maximum power of PV modules lead to that power degradation cannot be confidently evaluated. In this paper, measurement uncertainty of STC maximum power degradation of PV modules was studied based on the error propagation model. The power degradation threshold used for confidently evaluating whether module power degradation has occurred was determined. The results show that when the standard uncertainties for STC power measurements are 0.55% (reported minimum value), the power degradation thresholds are 0.77%, 1.53% and 2.28% with the confidence probabilities of 68.27%, 95.45% and 99.73%, respectively. The obtained results in this paper are helpful for module stakeholders to understand the importance of measurement uncertainties in methods for power determination on performance degradation evaluation of PV modules.
