| Irradiance Variations of a Pyranometer due to Leveling Issues Josh Peterson, Adagia Latta. University of Oregon, Eugene, OR, USA |
Abstract
Pyranometers, widely used for measuring global horizontal irradiance (GHI), rely on precise leveling to ensure reliable data. However, leveling issues, whether caused by improper installation, environmental factors, or mechanical degradation, can introduce errors in irradiance measurements. This study investigates the impact of pyranometer leveling deviations on irradiance readings under various solar angles. Sensors are purposefully mis-leveled by a known amount. The sensor bubble level misalignment is measured along with the irradiance. A correlation between sensor bubble misalignment and the irradiance measurements is drawn.
