Abstract

Advanced solar cells such as perovskite solar cells are expected for space applications. However, high performance, radiation-resistance and reliability of solar cells are key issues for space application. This paper presents high AM0 efficiency potential, radiation-resistance and reliability of various solar cells. III-V multi-junction solar cells have advantages for high-efficiency and radiation-resistance. Although Si solar cells are expected as cheaper space solar cells, further improvements in AM0 efficiency and radiation-resistance. Perovskite solar cells are also expected for cheaper space solar cells, improvements in AM0 efficiency and thermal reliability are essential.
