We plan to perform an on-orbit demonstration test of a variety of state-of-the-art photovoltaic devices by using the test flight module of JAXA’s new ISS transfer vehicle HTV-X. The demonstration mission is called SDX, and it includes InGaP/GaAs//CIGS PHOENIX triple-junction, perovskite, CIGS, micro-concentrator module and #503 InGaP/GaAs/Ge triple-junction solar cells. The devices for SDX demonstration test have suffered environmental tests of UV, proton/electron irradiation, thermal cycle, and vibration. The photovoltaic device exposure board and the measurement unit are now under assembling. The expected launch date is early 2023.
