Optical Simulations of all-inorganic CsPbBr3 Perovskite Quantum Dot Intermediate Band Solar Cells (QDIBSCs)

This study investigates the optical behavior of the intermediate band solar cell consisting of all-inorganic CsPbBr3 halide perovskite matrix and either lead sulfide quantum dots or germanium quantum dots. The Finite elements method approach is used to solve Maxwell’s equations. It is found out that the lead sulfide quantum dots(PbS-QDs) outperforms the Ge-QDs. Additionally, the bigger the physical quantum dot size and the higher the volume concentration of the quantum dots, the higher the absorbance in the visible and infrared ranges. More studies need to be performed on Ge-based QD intermediate band solar cells.
